Helwan is one of the oldest and biggest neighborhoods in Cairo. It’s known for its quietude and proximity from Helwan University. Some of its imperfections are the polluted air caused by cement factories, heavy traffic at some areas, and the long distance from the center of Cairo. The distance issue is partially resolved by the availability of Nasr road and Maadi Corniche. Helwan offers a wide spectrum of housing levels, the areas overlooking the Nile tend to be more upscale, but the majority is medium level housing. Helwan has a number of landmarks including the Meteorological Institute, Wax Museum, Hammamat Helwan, Japanese Garden, Helwan Center for Sulfur Natural Medicine. The majority of Helwan neighborhoods are close to the following Metro stations: Helwan, Eyoun Helwan, Helwan University, Wadi Houf, Hadayek Helwan. The neighborhoods of Tebein and 15 May have inner roads that allow reaching them.
